This Kinome, or Japanese Prickly Ash, comes from Shizuoka, Japan. A distant cousin of the Szechuan peppercorn plant, Kinome is actually in the citrus family, with a fantastically citrusy sweet tongue-numbing sensation. A popular garnish on raw sashimi, its berries have been used for centuries as an antispasmodic and its bark used to treat toothaches.
